A wedding is a huge event for those getting married, for many, the single most important event/day in the whole of their lives. It should be exciting and wonderful. But there's so many relations and other people to keep happy. And then there's the cost!

With all this going on, the relationship at the center can easily be overlooked. At St Matthew's, we help couples think about their decision about why to marry and how to build a strong marriage. And we help couples arrange the wedding service so that it is individual and special.

What to do.
1. Speak to Maureen Yardley at the Church Office about your plans. She will collect contact and other details.
2. Try to speak to Colin Gibson or Liz Chamberlain, ideally by coming to a Sunday morning service.
3. You will be contacted to come to meet Colin for the legal requirement of checking identities, often by passport or similar documents.
4. You will also be contacted to come to Marriage Preparation with John Edlin. The normal pattern is for three couples to meet in the home of a church member on two evenings. These sessions are often very valuable since they give you the chance to discuss and share ideas - even to the point of sharing the costs of flowers/church decoration if the weddings are on the same day!
5. Again you will be contacted to meet Meg Caine who will take all the details of your final wedding service, whether you require the organist or bells. She will also collect the fees.
6. The wedding rehearsal. 7. The wedding.
Many variations to this pattern are required due to the individual circumstances. The Church of England website is very helpful for wedding planning.
